Ignition Pricing 2026: Solo, Core, Pro & Pro+ Plans Explained

By the ClientBrief Team · Last updated September 2026

How much does Ignition cost?

Ignition costs $39 per month on Solo, $99 on Core, $229 on Pro and $399 on Pro+ when billed annually, covering 20, 50, 350 and 600 active clients respectively. Monthly billing is $49, $149, $279 and $499. Every tier also charges a per-additional-client fee once you exceed the plan's included count — $7 on Solo, $5 on Core, $3 on Pro, $2 on Pro+ — plus separate payment processing fees on top.

How Ignition charges

Ignition's pricing driver is active clients with a signed agreement, not headcount — Solo includes 1 user, Core 3, Pro 15 and Pro+ unlimited, but the plan you need is set by how many clients you have under a live engagement, not how many people are on your team. Go over the included client count and you pay a per-client overage fee rather than being forced to upgrade. On top of the subscription, Ignition takes a cut of every payment it collects for you: 2.5%+$0.30 on standard cards, 3.6%+$0.30 on premium cards, and 1%+$0.30 (capped at $5) on ACH, with an extra 0.3% on the portion of any transaction over $3,000.

Costs that don't show up on the pricing page

  • The per-client overage fee is the main budget trap: a Solo-tier firm with 30 active clients pays $39 base plus 10 x $7, or $109/month — nearly triple the advertised entry price.
  • AML/KYC identity checks aren't included in the subscription on any tier — they're billed per check ($6 standard, $10 enhanced) on Core and above, and aren't available at all on Solo.
  • Extra e-signature documents beyond the Pro plan's 500-per-year allowance cost $1.20 each — a firm doing high proposal volume can add hundreds of dollars a year here.
  • Deals pipeline and online forms are marketed as core features but are $49/month add-ons on every tier except Pro+, where they're bundled in.
  • Monthly billing costs 22-34% more than annual depending on tier, and the discount percentage varies by plan rather than being a flat rate.

Is Ignition worth the price?

Ignition isn't a client portal or document collection tool — there's no client-facing workspace or file exchange in any tier, and the feature list is entirely proposals, e-signature, engagement letters, billing and payment collection. Priced against that scope it's fair, and the per-client rather than per-user structure rewards small teams with a lot of clients. Priced against a document-collection tool it's the wrong comparison — firms usually run Ignition for the sales-to-signed-engagement step and a separate tool for the ongoing document exchange that follows.

Comparing against ClientBrief: ClientBrief is $7.99/month flat — no per-user pricing, no seat minimums, no annual commitment, and unlimited clients and checklists. It covers document collection only: send a checklist, clients upload without an account, reminders go out automatically. It is not a replacement for Ignition's wider feature set, and firms often run both.

Ignition pricing FAQ

How much does Ignition cost?

$39/month on Solo, $99 on Core, $229 on Pro and $399 on Pro+, all billed annually and covering 20, 50, 350 and 600 active clients respectively. Monthly billing is $49, $149, $279 and $499.

Does Ignition charge extra for additional clients?

Yes. Once you exceed a plan's included active-client count, Ignition charges a per-client overage fee: $7 on Solo, $5 on Core, $3 on Pro, $2 on Pro+. There's no hard cap forcing an upgrade — you can stay on a lower tier and simply pay the overage.

What counts as an 'active client' on Ignition?

A client with a signed agreement created through Ignition. Imported clients and clients with proposals that were never accepted don't count toward your plan's quota.

What payment processing fees does Ignition charge?

2.5%+$0.30 per standard card transaction, 3.6%+$0.30 for premium cards, and 1%+$0.30 for ACH (capped at $5). Transactions of $3,000 or more also carry an additional 0.3% fee on the portion above that threshold.

Does Ignition have a free plan or free trial?

No permanent free plan. There's a trial period during which you can collect up to $10,000 in payments with zero processing fees before you need to subscribe.

Does Ignition include a client portal or document collection?

No. Ignition covers proposals, e-signature, engagement letters, billing and payment collection — there's no client-facing document exchange or file storage in any tier. Firms that need that typically pair Ignition with a separate portal tool.

What's the difference between Ignition Solo and Core?

Core triples the included clients (50 vs 20), triples the user seats (3 vs 1), and adds bulk proposal creation plus an AML/KYC compliance dashboard with identity checks. Solo has none of the compliance tooling.

Are there hidden costs with Ignition?

The main ones are per-check identity verification ($6-10, not included in any subscription), extra e-signature documents beyond Pro's 500/year allowance ($1.20 each), and the Deals pipeline and Online forms features being $49/month add-ons on every tier except Pro+.

How much does Ignition cost for a firm of 5 people?

Headcount alone doesn't determine the tier — active client count does. A 5-person firm with 50 clients fits Core at $99/month annual (3 included users, so 2 more would need Pro). The same firm with 350 clients needs Pro at $229/month regardless of headcount.

Is Ignition cheaper than Karbon or TaxDome?

They're not really comparable on price alone because the cost drivers differ — Karbon and TaxDome charge per user, Ignition charges per active client. A solo practitioner with 200 clients would pay far more on Ignition's client-based model than on a per-user tool; a 10-person firm with 50 shared clients would likely pay less.

What's the cheapest alternative to Ignition?

Depends on what you actually need. For proposals and billing at lower cost, there isn't a direct match in this comparison. For document collection specifically — which Ignition doesn't do — ClientBrief is $7.99/month flat with unlimited clients, though it doesn't do proposals or payment collection either. The two solve different problems and are commonly run together.
